EFCC Arrests E-Money Over Alleged Naira Abuse and Dollar Sprayin

E-Money

Popular Lagos socialite and businessman, Emeka Okonkwo, famously known as E-Money, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged abuse of the Naira and spraying of foreign currency.

According to insider reports, EFCC operatives stormed E-Money’s Lagos residence on Monday night and took him into custody. The arrest follows allegations that he sprayed U.S. dollars during a recent event in Lagos—an act that violates Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act. He is also being accused of defacing the Naira, which is a punishable offense under Nigerian law.

The EFCC has stated that a thorough investigation is currently ongoing. Once completed, the commission plans to prosecute the socialite accordingly. E-Money has already been flown to Abuja for further interrogation and legal procedures.

Although the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to issue an official statement, credible sources within the agency confirmed both the arrest and the ongoing probe.
